MUSCAT: Her Highness Sayyidah Zayana bint Ali al Said has been appointed Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Middle East and North Africa Association of Air Safety Investigators (AASI), reflecting Oman’s growing presence in international aviation safety organisations.
The appointment is expected to strengthen regional cooperation, facilitate the exchange of technical expertise and support capacity-building in aircraft accident and incident investigation.
The achievement builds on Oman’s efforts to expand its participation in international aviation safety organisations. The Council of Ministers’ General-Secretariat approved Oman’s accession to the International Society of Air Safety Investigators (ISASI) on November 17, 2020.
Founded in the United States in 1964, ISASI promotes professional cooperation and the exchange of knowledge among aviation safety investigators. Its Middle East and North Africa regional association, established in 2013, supports professional networking, technical knowledge-sharing and specialised training to improve aviation safety and accident prevention. — ONA
